The ÉTS Food Bank is an emergency resource available to the ÉTS student community. For a $5 contribution, the bank provides grocery baskets valued at up to $100. Generally speaking, baskets contain non-perishable items, dry foods and snacks.
Eligibility requirements
1. You must be an ÉTS student and registered for a minimum of one course during the current session.
2. After taxes, your annual household income must be less than :
- 1 person: $22 801
- 2 people: $27 750
- 3 people: $34 555
- 4 people: $43 110
Steps to take
1. If you meet the aforementioned eligibility requirements, please fill out the online form.
- Take note that students may make one request per session; quantities are, however, limited to 150 people. Baskets are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
- Your request is valid for the entire session. The price is 5$ for each basket.
- For the fall term, $20 (4 distributions: September, October, November, December)
- For the winter term, $20 (4 distributions: January, February, March, April)
- For the summer term, $15 (3 distributions: May, June, July)
- If your request is not approved, you will be reimbursed.
2. After your request has been evaluated:
If your request is approved, you agree to the following :
- To be on time for the pick-up. The distribution time cannot be changed. If you do not show up, you will not be reimbursed.
- To bring your ÉTS student card for the basket pick-up.
- To bring your own bags. The food bank does not provide bags or boxes.
Precautions regarding the food items
Before consuming any food items, please take the following precautions :
- Ensure that the food and its wrapping has not been tampered with;
- The expiration date does not indicate that the product is no longer good, but you do have to use your judgment before consuming any product;
- For people who have allergies, ensure that the products’ wrapping is intact and that you can consult the list of ingredients.
The ÉTS food bank does not take responsibility for the state of the products; it is your responsibility to use your own judgment prior to consuming any given product.

A final note
The food bank is a last resort resource offered for students experiencing difficulties. Since the number of baskets is limited, it is not guaranteed that you will be eligible. It is thus important that you take steps to plan your budget carefully without counting on the food bank.
International students in need are eligible for the ÉTS food bank. However, they should not include this assistance in their financial planning of resources available to them since it is not recurring or automatic. It is important to note as well that participating in the ÉTS food bank is confidential and will have no impact on your student file or immigration record.
